Stream to your Xbox 360 from Windows XP

I regularly download BBC shows I have missed from the BBC's iPlayer site. I was getting tired of watching them on my PC and after digging around found a way to watch them on TV. The following assumes you have an Xbox 360 and a PC running Windows XP with Windows Media Player version 11 or higher installed. You must have your Xbox 360 and your PC networked, i.e. both machines can communicate with each other. An advisory note before reading further - I always use Internet Explorer to download from iPlayer as it allows me to select Windows Media Player download format (WMV), other browsers do not give this option.

• Start up both machines.
• On the PC open up Windows Media Player and right-click on "Now Playing". Select "More options..." and a grey dialogue box will pop up.
• Select the "Library" tab and click on the "Configure Sharing..." button.
• Another grey dialogue box will pop up. Make sure the "Share my media to:" box is ticked and select your Xbox 360 from the list below. Click the "Allow" button. Click "OK" and this pop up will close.
• Now click the "Monitor Folders..." button. A grey pop up dialogue appears. Select your preferred folder option and click "OK". This takes a small while to analyze your folders and files. Now click "Close".
• On your Xbox 360 navigate to your Video Library. Select your PC from the source list then navigate to your file of choice and away you go.
