I wanted to share with you my experiences of a so called "Google Front Page Ranking" system.
As expected you enter your name and email address and receive a link to some videos.
I started to watch and I have to say my immediate impression was "WHAT A DULL PERSON" - monotone and slow in delivery. Secondly - "Please go the microphone further away from your mouth as every word uttered is accompanied by squelching saliva! - eeew!. I know that not everyone is blessed with the ability to speak clearly but a small bit of thought about whether people can bare to really listen to your voice is definately worth considering. Always question someone who knows you well whether speaking in public is your bag. Consider getting a friend to speak for you.
Now that must sound really harsh and I hope I'm not insulting anyone but selling to the public is an art and that means not putting people off the very moment you open your mouth in a Youtube / Metacafe video.
Okay, back to the videos - I've listened to goodness knows how many of these "Find a niche that people are searching - choose your keywords with Google's help - choose a suitable domain name - spread the word with Twitter and Facebook, etc, etc. Wow that really sounds simple doesn't it?
Well guess what? No, it isn't really, because the absolute number one critical part in the above sequence of events is picking that niche. I'll let you into a small secret here - there are thousands and thousands of people out there doing exactly the same as you. Yes they are about to choose the same keywords as you. So what can you do about it? NOTHING, absolutely nothing and it doesn't matter because that is the indicator you need that tells you there's money to be made in your niche.
Okay, I'm dull myself now so I'll cut to the chase. Tools worth utilising are:
Digg.com - like you don't know
mixx.com
autopinger.com
Now, autopinger.com is fantastic because you only have to enter the URL of your site or article once.
but
socialposter.com allows you to submit website / article details to tons of social media sites. The downside is that you need to be registered with virtually every social site in the list so be ready to spend a long time registering before you can submit details. The same applies to digg.com and mixx.com.
Ezine.com article writing is a excellent way to make links to your site. You need to register (what a shock), write an article that isn't blatant marketing. Your article needs to be helpful and informative and drop in a link to your site near the end. Include keyword phrases on your article that tie in with your website. Be prepared to wait for articles to be authorised. It takes a few days.
There are more tools freely available and I shall list them in my next post, making sure you know just what's involved.
