Calgary AB, Vancouver BC, Dallas TX (PRWEB) November 2, 2003 -

October 31, 2003 – Promo Only Canada announced today that it has successfully completed a four month testing of their MPE secure media distribution system and is now officially launching the service. Testing included working with the Huge 5 major record marks, various independent music groups and select radio stations in both Canada and the United States.

On October 10th, Promo Only Canada started the initial rollout of the MPE system. Within itÂÂ’s first week, over 200 radio stations had signed up for the service. Since that time, the Promo Only MPE system has over 40 new and current titles available for download to both radio stations and trusted users. Some of the tracks available on their official mark release date include "Hit That" by The Offspring, “Addicted” by Enrique Iglesias, “All In The Suit That You Wear” by Stone Temple Pilots and “Reviens (où te caches-tu)” by Garou. Other New and High Priority tracks are being added daily to the MPE system.

Since November 2003, Promo Only Canada has been working to provide both record marks and radio stations with a new, secure and simple means to delivering and obtaining content. In doing so, the company has partnered with Destiny Media Technologies, a leader in distributing digital media through the Internet, and Scott Studios / Computer Concepts, the leading and largest studio equipment provider to radio with more than 4500 client stations in North America.

Dean Ernst, President of Promo Only Canada said, “The MPE system stands for Music Protected by Encryption. Our mandate on this project was to imagine a world without compact discs. It was equally vital to securely distribute content over the Internet, while delivering speed and lowering distribution and manufacturing costs for the marks. We feel that we have made the impossible – a system that keeps security and audio quality high, yet very simple to use. Control is given back to the record marks. They can dictate who, when and where their content needs to be securely delivered,” concluded Ernst.

The Promo Only MPE System allows record marks to send out a secure broadcast quality audio file. The system checks and verifies the original audio source to see if it meets the MPE standards for radio. It does not make an MP3, but rather their own new and better audio format that they call MPE. By doing this, it allows the recipients to download a smaller file size, in less time, without sacrificing speed and quality.

Destiny Media Technologies CEO, Steve Vestergaard states, “The heart of the system is the security. The MPE encryption format has been in development by Destiny since 1999 and has proven itself as a secure means to deliver content. The system works by taking a “fingerprint” of a userÂÂ’s computer and then authenticates the individual with our servers. Only authorized users, as administered by the record marks themselves, will have access to download, play, or the ability to export the audio file for CDR burning.”

The process starts by the record mark using the Promo Only MPE Encoder software. This allows the mark to promote and securely distribute their songs to all Canadian radio stations or trusted users. The Encoder uploads the audio file to a secure server, makes a Clipstream Audio preview of the song, and makes both the security and high quality audio file, all in the background. The authorized user must install the Promo Only MPE Player in order to playback and download the files from the Internet. Promo Only and their partners have developed an simple and secure network from start to end. Anyone with a limited knowledge of computers can use the MPE system in minutes.

Scott StudioÂÂ’s CEO, Dave Scott said, “We are excited to working closely with the various marks and our fantastic radio stations in Canada, to have Scott and Computer Concepts' equipment comply with the record companies desires through MPE. The leaking of music by computers is a serious concern and if the music industry wants songs to be encrypted so they can't be copied, we're pleased to cooperate and make it as simple as possible for radio stations to comply. By working with Promo Only Canada and Destiny Media Technologies, we have been able to provide a solution that answers the security concerns, yet keeps audio quality very high. The Promo Only MPE system is the only answer we support."

The Promo Only MPE system can be used not only by radio stations and internally by the mark, but industry trade magazines, newspapers and recording studios, can also take advantage of the system. MPE is The New Standard Of Secure Media Distribution.
